Skiing is the next best thing to having wings

For me the ski holiday is always a great time – not only is it a great sport, but such an inspiring experience every single time. I think that into the mountains I go to lose my mind and find my soul. Moreover the mountain, the snow , the cold, altogether make me feel alive.

Always when I’m on the mountain, I’m just so thankful to be there! I can’t explain with words the way I feel there on the white slopes – it is a mix of happiness, awe and thankfulness that I get to touch this majestic beauty.

And in order to be fit, in balance, and flexible I prepare always a well-maintained equipment and outfits to help me make sure that I will have a great time ?. I choose Bogner ski combi, Burton sweatshirt, backpack and gloves, Under armour shirt, a fancy Dior helmet, Michael Kors sun glasses and sock boots, Cygnus and Alpina goggles, Hoxyheads pussycat helmet ears that make your ski helmet a real eye-catcher and neon pink Shawn Mendes double-layered hat in a soft rib knit.

Love Carinthia

Carinthia (in german „Kärnten“) is one of my favourite parts of Austria, no matter the season, each has its own beauty.

Every time we come around with my family, we visit the Maltatal waterfall – it’s a 220 meter tall drop, in such being the tallest one in all of Carinthia. It is situated in the Malta valley and around 10km from the city of Gmund, which by itself is another place I am always eager to visit.

In Gmund one can find the Porsche museum, but my pictures today are from an oldsmobile garage just outside of town, where I noticed this old rusty Mercedes in front. The view of it brought me back to my youth years, when my grandfather had one just like that, and it was the first and only one in our town at the time. It threw me really deep back in my memories – time flies by so fast…

My outfit today is once more casual and fit for the windy weather – all black and white – a black super comfortable Michael Kors hoodie and sock boots, faux fur Calzedonia leggings, a Pull & Bear belly bag, New Yorker coat, an „Igers“ hat from ALCOTT that i love very much and warm Paco Rabanne gloves.

Lake Millstatt – where mountain and lake dreams come true

Lake Millstatt – a place that I have visited so many times and a place where I can switch off and just chill. It is a dream location where the snowy Alps meets the calm deep waters of the lake – a sight to marvel both in summer and in winter.

Coincidently being the first place to visit in this new year, I take it’s beauty as a way to charge myself for all the things I plan to achieve in the next months.

To match the surrounding Alps, my outfit today is in a light mountain style – a winter ALCOTT sweater with mountain details, a matching jacket, Calzedonia leggings, lovely red winter ALCOTT socks, Tanca booties and bag and trendy black sunglasses.

From Wikipedia

It is situated at 588 metres above the Adriatic (1,929 ft), north of the Drava Valley within the Gurktal Alps (Nock Mountains) range of the Central Eastern Alps, near the town of Spittal an der Drau. With a surface area of 13.3 km2 (5.1 sq mi) Lake Millstatt is the second largest lake of Carinthia (after Lake Wörth), though with a depth of 142 m (466 ft) the most voluminous by far.

Its steep shore gives the lake a fjord-like character. The Millstätter Alpe mountains in the north up to 2,100 m (6,900 ft) protect it from cold winds, so the water temperature can reach 25 °C (77 °F) in summer. The narrow and long surface stretches over 12 km (7.5 mi) from east to west. In the south the wooded Hochgosch plateau, with a breadth of 2 km (1.2 mi) and an elevation of 876 m (2,874 ft), divides the lake from the parallel Drava Valley.

The name derives from the market town Millstatt on the northern shore. Other municipalities near the lake are Seeboden and Radenthein-Döbriach. The shaded southern shore, a protected area since 1970, is almost uninhabited.

Skiing in Carinthia

Carinthia is situated in the southern part of Austria and is called „The land of sun“. In winter it is snow covered and as in most other parts of the country, skiing is the main activity. The mood is more relaxed with a Mediterranean touch as it borders with Italy – nearly everyone down here speaks Italian.

One of the biggest resorts in Carinthia is Bad Kleinkircheim, which is quickly moving up the rankings of the ski resorts in Austria. It has over 100km of pistes, 24 lifts and a slope steep enough to get included in the world cup circuit. There is enough snowfall throughout the season, but the sunny days are abundant as well – as you can see for the several days I was skiing there it was sunny all the way.

The hut at the top of Kaiserburg, situated 2019 meters above sea level, is a notorious one, with the fine views it offers and a traditional interior, as you can see from the pictures. Service and the food quality are very traditional for the region.

Love skiing

I was a 2,5 year old little girl when I started skiing and since then my love for the sport never faded away. It is a great feeling each winter to get on the skis, but it’s also a very good exercise, especially when you are good at it.

This year I was in a very beautiful resort – Bad Kleinkircheim, situated in the Carinthia part of the Alps. I enjoyed every bit of it – from the great weather and fantastically well prepared slopes, to the marvellous views the Alps presented, as you can see on the pictures. I planned to write a lot about it, but no words are really needed when the photos can talk for themselves. It was like a winter tale.

Good morning from Hermagor

Good morning from a magical place in Tröpalach near Hermagor, Carinthia in the south of Austria, just off the border with Italy – the Falkensteiner hotel & spa Carinzia. To have a breakfast here with the astounding alpine peaks, (still) green ski slopes and meanwhile warm pools in the background cannot be described with words.

Expect one more post with a gallery of pictures we will take in this magestic area.
