Austria’s Glorious Balls

Every winter, Austria hosts hundreds of classy ball nights – nowhere are balls so romantically formal as in Vienna.

Over 400 of them are staged each winter, strict dress codes, an opening fanfare, the entrance of the debutants and debutantes and the call „Alles Walzer!“ (literally: “Everything is waltz!”) are all part of a classic ball. Balls open usually with a Polonaise and punctuated by speeches, etc.

In the past wearing of masks and costumes was reserved for the nobility. To compensate for this, Emperor Joseph II opened up the dances in the Redoute Rooms in the Hofburg palace to everyone. This allowed the Viennese to copy the courtly customs of these celebrations, something which they retain to this day.

The waltz, being a partner dance, was initially perceived as a provocation, and caused moral outrage. The Vienna Congress (1814/15), meeting in the city to establish the new order in Europe following Napoleon’s campaigns, made it acceptable via the salons.

The balls today have kept a lot of the traditions of the past, while at the same time adapting many modern elements – like performances by professional dance groups and celebrities, charity campaigns, etc. It was a charity ball in the Viennese Hofburg palace that i was at – the 14th Dancer against Cancer Ball. From the opening with the debutants and the „Alles Walzer“, through to the modern dancing performances, the whole show was full of variety.

I am sharing with you some photos from this fabulous event. I was wearing a black and white dress, shoes and bag, trying to blend in with the waltz couple’s monochrome colors.

Believing in the beauty of dreams

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams – I love this quote and believe that many of our dreams could come true. In this context my 2020 has started with a lot of positivity, purposes and dreams. I feel it will be a great year, full of exciting experiences and achievements. I am in the right state of mind to bring the book of my life to the next chapter and to fill it with new adventures. Epictetus said: „First say to yourself what you would be, and then do what you have to do.“ So, I am ready and motivated.

Meanwhile motivation is one of the most important things we should have, it is an emotion, a way of thinking which leads us forward. We become what we think about.
So , I like dreaming, I do like also fairytales like children, but I also like to do things in order to fulfil my dreams.

My photos today are again from Vienna, which in the evenings looks really fairly, wrapped in softy Zara sweater, also Zara skinny Jeans and Sacha Sneakers.

Christmas mood in Vienna

I am so happy to live for so many years in one of the most beautiful European cities – Vienna, where the magic before Christmas is so compelling. The countless lights and the glamorous decoration, all of it makes your soul realise that Christmas is coming.

I love the small local streets with their small curious shops, that seem to lead you to another world, especially in the evening. Nothing compares to that – magic is all around in the air…

As for my outfit today – I am definitely all about the teddy coats this season and I love this one in pink. It’s so fluffy and cosy, that it makes the Christmas magic mood even more magical. It is safe to say that I’ve never been wrapped up in anything warmer or cosier than this @zara outfit – fake fur trousers, black booties, coat and sweater.

No doubt, I feel like this year my coat wardrobe is consistently expanding, but my favourite one there is always the teddy coat. It’s the thing to go to with almost everything. So If you’re only looking to make a few firm outerwear investments this season, then stake your claim right now for teddy coats, of course, in a fashion way.

Feeling purple

Today, I’m “showing-off” my beautiful purple dress from the amazing “Balina”, which is simply great! I am not a fan of wearing often elegant or formal dresses but sometimes for special occasions it gives me a nice feminine feeling. This dress has a modern design, nice for the summer with its no shoulder look and it’s just perfect for the city night, a cocktail evening or any formal occasion. Really gives you that confident flair. Moreover, I think for such a dress clean looks are just splendid.

I also wear with pleasure my great silver-gold shiny high heels from Humanic.

Hopefully you like today’s look and maybe you will also choose the trendy purple color for a future occasion, in a fashionway.

What I wore:

  • Balina dress
  • Humanic high heels

Friday night: dress casual to impress

My outfit today is not a daily one, but something different – a night-out outfit.

The weather outside is really summertime and I would not want to stay the whole evening in a warm and uncomfortable outfit. Thats why I choose a look in which I feel well and is also fun – a sexy bra top, white blazer and transparent cycling pants. To be honest I have never been a fan of these pants, but wearing them in a proper classy way with blazer and high heels is a trendy style that I like very much.

What about you? Would you also wear cycling pants and do you have a favourite bra top with which you are more provoking and would you take a similar challenge in a fashionway?
