Sweater with dogtooth, short skirt and over-the-knee boots

I’m always up for the challenge of throwing together a good black and white outfit, only this time matched with bits of silver grey. When I saw this dogtooth chunky sweater, I got inspired to bring you a casual street look that works great for this season.

When it comes to sweaters, I gravitate towards purchasing a variety of styles ranging from high to low. This means I try to invest in at least a few new good sweaters each winter, that will carry me from season to season. And then I go for a handful of on-trend statement sweaters that I can style with more basic pieces to stay relevant, playful and edgy.

This trendy sweater allowed me to do just that — pairing with the short casual black skirt that I’ve had for years, one of my over-the-knee boots from Zara and one of my most favorite black fur bag that matches the fur of my grey-silver jacket . Mixed together you get a nice outfit that not only makes a statement but aligns with a modern chic monochromatic styling scheme, in a fashionway.

Variety of coat trends

The fall-Winter season 2019-2020 brings a variety of coat trends – from the most fashionable coats of the season to the coats that are out of style. Plus those that are still in fashion just because we love them so much.

The teddy bear coat, the faux fur and the oversized coat are some of the most preferred. But there are also a few other winter coats to choose from this winter like checked, plaid and dogtooth detailed. Yes, this winter brought us a bunch of chic and sophisticated coats you can wear. And another bunch of cosy coats that will put you in the Christmas mood the moment you snuggle in or place them around your shoulders. All you need to do now is to find yours.

Today I choose a checkered coat with a simple oversized white soft shirt, a short black skirt to emphasise the outfit and once again my favourite over-knee boots, but this time plain ones.

Dogtooth print

It’s the trend that combines two true loves – pets and prints – yes, it’s dogtooth. First seen in Scotland back in the 1800s, it has been a wardrobe favourite which had its ups and downs through the years – but I’m pretty happy that it’s back again.

From all the black and white prints that I love, dogtooth is definitely one of my favourites. These dogtooth trousers from Calzedonia have been in my wardrobe for a while, but I have actually worn them just a handful of times – a reason might be that I was not really sure what to combine them with. Today I matched them with a black shirt featuring details with the same print – I think print with print items pair well. I find a gray coat to be a good complement to the outfit, as a black one would be too boring. I’m really digging this combo though. It has a bit of a retro feel to it, without being too gimmicky. The black boots from Zara and the Pinko bag finish the outfit as accents, in a fashionway.
